Mooli Kofta Curry

Mooli means Radish and although not many like the taste of Radish, Mooli kofta Curry is a tasty gravy based dish liked by many.

Ingredients

For Koftas

  1. Fresh White Radish(Mooli)-3
  2. Desiccated coconut-2 tbsps
  3. Roasted and Peeled Peanuts-2 tbsps
  4. Red Chillies-3-4
  5. Gram Flour(Besan)-1tbsp
  6. Garam Masala-1/2 tbsp
  7. 1 Small onion chopped
  8. Sliced Green chilies : 2 tbsps
  9. Finely chopped coriander : 4 tbsps
  10. Oil for frying

For Gravy

  1. Red Chillies-3
  2. Garlic-3-4 flakes
  3. Dhania Powder-1/2 tbsp
  4. Turmeric powder – A pinch
  5. 1 big onion- Half Chopped finely and the other half ground to a paste
  6. Curd-3 tbsps
  7. Garam Masala-1/2 tbsp
  8. Chopped Ginger-1/2 tbsp
  9. Oil-1 tbsp

Method

1) Peel the skin of Radish and grate. Keep it aside

2) Chop onions, green chilies, and coriander and transfer them into a big mixing bowl

3) Grind together coconut, peanuts, and red chilies into a coarse paste

4) Squeeze out the water from the grated mooli well and add it in the mixing bowl. Do not throw the squeezed water
5) Now add the ground paste, besan, salt, Garam Masala and mix well

6) Make it into small kofta balls and deep fry in oil.

7) Now for the gravy grind together Red chillies,salt, garlic,dhania powder and turmeric
8) In a pan add oil and fry both ground and chopped onions for about 5 mins
9)add the paste and fry until oil starts separating

10) Now pour curd, add garam masala and chopped ginger and add the squeezed out mooli water. You can add additional water for liquid consistency. Simmer for 2-3 mins

11)add the koftas and cook on low flame for another 5-7 mins. Mooli kofta Curry is ready to be served after garnishing with chopped coriander and serve with Roti/chapathi or hot rice
